The TotalEnergies Playground at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) was officially opened on Sunday by HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums. The playground offers a unique opportunity for families to understand the history of energy in Qatar through purposeful play.

Patrick Pouyanne, the chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, as well as a number of other prominent individuals, attended the inauguration ceremony.

The playground was created by Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) and built by the Public Works Authority under the sponsorship of TotalEnergies as part of their relationship with Qatar Museums (Ashghal).

Visitors of all ages can familiarize themselves at the playground with Qatar's diverse energy sources, which range from renewable energy sources and electricity to oil, gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Numerous subjects, like carbon sequestration and storage, polymer recycling, and traffic safety, touch on the idea of sustainability.

The playground's labyrinth-like design features 15 interactive play areas, each of which deals with a different kind of energy, as well as a number of tunnels in the shape of big tubes that kids can use as passageways. The playground strives to provide a sustainable outdoor environment motivated by human energy and has a water play area as well.

The playground, according to HE Sheikha Al Mayassa, is one of many that have been built throughout Qatar in an effort to encourage residents and visitors to spend time outdoors with their families and friends while also learning about Qatar's rich history. HE Al Mayassa expressed gratitude for the alliance created by TotalEnergies and Qatar.

Pouyanne expressed his pride in the alliance between TotalEnergies and QM, particularly with the exceptional project offered to Qatari children that combines learning and entertainment in a first-rate setting. Pouyanne noted that energy and culture are both seen as crucial components of Qatar's history.

Abdulla Mohsen, Deputy V-P - HR, Communications & CSR at TotalEnergies, noted in a statement that the playground was built in order to provide a platform for families, locals, and residents to simultaneously carry out the educational, recreational, and cultural role and get a glimpse of energy. He added that through this playground, kids will learn that it is different from other playgrounds and other parks.

The playground was designed by the Australian company TCL and built by the local contracting firm GET. According to Ashghal's senior project engineer Aisha al-Sada, Ashghal was able to complete the project on schedule because of the quality and attention to detail put into every component of the playing field.

Mist fans, another playground element, help to chill the area around the games. The playground's design is environmentally friendly because it receives some of its power from solar panels that have been installed close by.
