New traffic fines have been announced by the UAE's Interior Ministry to increase safety precautions, particularly in emergencies or adverse weather conditions.
Depending on the offense, the latest list of traffic violations carries fines up to AED 2,000 and 23 black points. The new fines in the UAE are:
-
During rainy weather, gathering near valleys, flooded areas, and dams: Dh1,000 fine and 6 black points.
-
Entering flooded valleys, regardless of their level of danger: Dh2,000 fine, 60-day confiscation of vehicles, and 23 black points.
-
Obstructing the relevant authorities from regulating traffic; or ambulance and rescue vehicles during emergencies, disasters, crises, and rains; and in flooded valleys: Dh1,000 fine, 60-day confiscation of vehicles, and 4 black points.
The aim of the traffic law amendments, according to the ministry, is to "reinforce existing procedures and underline the significance of adhering to instructions and safety requirements.''
