Generally speaking, hummus is a Middle Eastern thick spread made from ground chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon, and garlic. It should be eaten as is, yet some people think otherwise.

Here is a list of the worst hummus recipes to exist:

Pea Hummus

Hummus should never be a sickly shade of green. So please stop blending peas into your hummus, and don't insist on foisting peas into otherwise fine dishes either.

Roasted Pumpkin Seed Hummus

Purée the pumpkin seeds into pumpkin seed butter, add the chickpeas, purée some more. Hmmm?

Hummus Milkshake

Hummus is awesome for sticking chips into and munching, but slurping it through a straw? No words. Most people would prefer to call it, "something that sounds so gross it's the last thing I'd ever want to sip."

Lemon Blueberry Hummus Pancakes

These lemon blueberry pancakes are made with both almond flour and hummus, which you can clearly taste. They are not exactly our dream breakfast.

Spiced Hummus Cake

This is a cinnamon cake flavored with nutty tahini hummus. Exotic. No other comment.

Red Velvet Hummus

Instead of trying to bake red velvet cupcakes, people thought of integrating the classic crimson color and sweet dark chocolate flavor into hummus. Yuck!

Spicy Sweet Potato Hummus

It's brilliant orange! Nothing more to say.

Banana Hummus

Banana bread? Totally. Banana hummus? Not so sure.

Brownie Batter Hummus

Brownie? Hummus? Can it get any worse than that?

Chickpea Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe doesn't actually contain hummus, just chickpeas, so it's a little less alarming, but we're good, thanks! We would still go for regular chocolate chip cookies.
