The World Cup Exhibition for People with Disabilities Kicks Off
His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of Special Needs, inaugurated the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 exhibition in the activities' hall at Jassim bin Hamad Secondary School for Boys, which affiliated with the Ministry of Education, with the participation of the youth apparatus at Al Rayyan Sports Club.
The exhibition included artworks, handicrafts, recycling, and paintings for members of the association's centers of persons with intellectual disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, dual disabilities, and others.
His Excellency said that the exhibition was held within the accompanying celebrations of Qatar's organization of the 2022 World Cup, emphasizing the diverse skills and creativity of
people with disabilities, and their ability to express themselves through artwork and paintings, in celebration of the organization of the State of Qatar 2022 World Cup.
He added, "It is our duty to empower creative people with disabilities and turn their creative ideas into tangible reality and realistic projects that leave positive impacts on society and their personal lives.
Qatar confirmed that it would host the most appropriate tournament for the needs of persons with disabilities in the history of the World Cup, "a tournament accessible to all.
And that people with disabilities, and their families, will be among the most important beneficiaries of the legacy that will be left by the organization of the World Cup, and that our youth of persons with disabilities are able to make a distinction, prove their own abilities, and that they are an integral part of society, which contributes to their inclusion in their social environment."
The exhibition included wonderful works, in the field of arts, drawing and free expression, artwork and printing, in which students with disabilities used acrylic colors on canvas as well as wood and felt colors, in addition to collage art, which depends on cutting and pasting several materials, was used in some paintings in one plate, The dazzling drawings created by talented students with disabilities were characterized by the spontaneous expression of the wishes and dreams that they aspire to achieve in their homeland, Qatar.
So, the abilities and talents of students with disabilities in the fine arts were added to the great achievements in the file of organizing the World Cup Qatar 2022.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition witnessed the attendance and participation of: Mr. Khaled Al-Qahtani, Director of Jassim Bin Hamad Secondary School for Boys, Mrs. Fatima Al-Saadi, Director of the Special Education and Gifted Care Department, at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Taleb Afifa, member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs.
They stressed that the aim of the exhibitions is to educate the community about the capabilities and skills of people with disabilities, and their ability to work and implement small projects from their own creativity, which brings them happiness and confidence.
