As an encouraging policy for more female talents to join the private sector the new law changes Article 32 of Federal Law No. 8 of 1980 on labour relations.
The UAE has implemented significant changes over the years to ensure and promote gender equality and this is yet another crucial step in safeguarding gender balance in the Emirates.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, issued Federal Law No. 6 of 2020, where the first article states that women and men must have the same salaries if they hold the same position or if they are doing the same type of work.
The decree was issued by President Sheikh Khalifa and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation had commenced procedures to guarantee equal wages between men and women performing the same duties in a directive issued on August 25.
Sheikha Fatima, had also launched Emirati Women’s Day back in 2015 as a means to bring importance to the women in the UAE. Over the years, the UAE has jumped 23 ranks in the United Nations Development Programme's 2019 Gender Inequality Index, ranking first in the Arab world and 26th globally.
Additionally, the UAE has been ranked number one in the world when it has come to women’s representation in the parliament.
