The National Human Rights Committee expressed its pride and appreciation for the efforts made by the State of Qatar, its leadership, people, and institutions, to provide the reasons and requirements for the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out that this global football event is a pride for the Arabs and all humanity, and a distinguished legacy for the State of Qatar and the entire Arab region.

The committee said, in a statement, that this historic event, unique in the region and the world, took place in a safe environment in which human rights and freedoms were fully protected, whether for the fans who came to participate in the tournament activities or for citizens and residents alike, in a framework of respect for diversity, nationalities, races, and cultures, and taking into account the duties and system of national values and customs in the State of Qatar.

The committee stated that it had formed a team concerned with the World Cup, from which a working group branched out to monitor and document any potential abuses or violations of human rights before, during, and after the tournament, and it has established an office at Hamad International Airport and has provided hotlines in several languages that operate 24 hours a day to receive inquiries and complaints in this field.

The committee affirmed that it did not observe any acts of violence, physical or psychological abuse, negligent treatment, exploitation, discrimination, or any manifestations of promoting hate speech, nationalism, religion or racism.

This means the success of efforts related to the protection of human rights, foremost of which are rights to life, physical integrity, liberty, personal security, equality, non-discrimination, freedom of opinion, expression, media and information exchange, as well as the ability of Qatari society to interact with fans of different nationalities and cultures in a spirit of brotherhood, understanding, tolerance, and friendship that reflects People's aspirations and love for peace, the rule of law, justice, equality, non-discrimination, and international solidarity.

The National Human Rights Committee stated that it appreciates the fans of the tournament and all international and regional organizations for their praise of the Qatari hosting of the World Cup, and refuted all allegations that were made against the fact that Qatar is a peace-loving country and that its people are hospitable and generous, highlighting that it will transfer and develop the unique experience it has gained since the announcement of hosting the tournament in 2010 and making it a global heritage that contributes to the crystallization of principles, recommendations, and methods that will further uphold the right to sport as a human right.
