Henley Passport Index evaluates all 199 international passports according to the number of places their holders can visit without needing a visa in advance using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the largest database of travel-related information in the world.
Asia takes lead in the world’s most powerful passports in 2023 with Japan securing first place with visa-free entry to 193 countries internationally. The island country in east Asia is followed by an Asian duo with Singapore and South Korea allowing entry to 192 countries based on Henley Passport Index for this year.

A plethora of European countries follow Asia with Germany and Spain granting entry to their citizens to 190 destinations and Finland, Italy, and Luxembourg seizing the fourth place on the list with 189 countries.
Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, and Sweden come in fifth place with 188 visa-free locations followed by Ireland, France, Portugal, and the United Kingdom in sixth place with 187 destinations.
Belgium, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, United States occupy the seventh place with 186 countries. Australia, Canada, Greece, and Malta stand in the eighth place of holding the most powerful passports in the world with 185 destinations.
Poland and Hungary bagged the ninth place on the list with 184 visa-free countries for their residences, and Lithuania and Slovakia granted the tenth place with 183 destinations.
Sitting at the bottom of the list again, citizens of Afghanistan are only allowed to visit 27 countries without a visa.
As for the weakest passports according to Henley Passport Index, North Korea comes at 108 ranking on the scale with 40 countries to visit only, followed by Nepal and the Palestinian Territories with 38 visa-free destinations.
The list is followed by Somalia with 35 visa-free countries, Yemen with 34, Pakistan with 32, Syria with 30, Iraq with 29, and lastly Afghanistan with 27 countries.
