Authorities in Delhi were on high alert after a 13-year-old boy sent an email on June 18 claiming a bomb was planted on a Dubai-bound flight. The email led to an emergency response at Delhi airport until it was confirmed as a hoax.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani stated that the teen admitted to sending the email "just for fun," influenced by a recent news story about another teenager who had made a similar hoax bomb threat.
"During the investigation, it was revealed that the e-mail ID was deleted just after sending the email. The email was traced to Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand," Rangnani said. Authorities quickly dispatched a team to the location, where the boy was apprehended and later released back to his parents.
These types of threats are taken very seriously by authorities, resulting in high alert and emergency measures until proven false. This incident underscores the importance of understanding the severe consequences of such actions, even if intended as a prank.
