Today, September 24th, marks the start of the autumn equinox in the UAE, meaning that summer is officially over in the Gulf country.

Temperatures will drop as low as 23ºC next week in parts of the UAE with cooler and fresher winds, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Weather is expected to be fairly cloudy and humidity may increase by tonight. There will be cooler light to moderate winds with lows of 26ºC in Dubai on Sunday.

The autumn equinox was marked on Saturday, September 23rd, as the sun got perpendicular to the Earth's equator, making the length of the day and the night almost equal and signaling the official start of autumn.

However, daytime and nighttime will not exactly equal because of the sun's angular size and atmospheric refraction.
