A tragic accident on Dubai's Hatta-Lahbab Road has left one student dead and 11 others injured after a vehicle lost control, swerved, and overturned. The car, which was carrying 12 students, crashed into an iron barrier before flipping over into a sandy area on the roadside.
Cause of the Accident
Dubai Police reported that the vehicle was overloaded, with all passengers believed to be Asian students. Initial investigations point to speeding, driver negligence, and lack of attention as the primary causes of the accident. Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting commandant assistant for Operations Affairs, stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the fatal crash. The injured students were taken to the hospital with injuries described as mild to moderate.
Authorities Urge Safety
Following the incident, Maj-Gen Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, urged parents to ensure their children's safety by avoiding unlicensed transportation services. He also stressed the importance of not exceeding the passenger limit in vehicles, a punishable offense in the UAE.
Al Mansouri further warned drivers about the dangers of driving while fatigued, noting that exhaustion from long work hours can severely impair focus and reaction times, increasing the risk of accidents. Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei also highlighted that speeding, sudden maneuvers, and driver negligence are significant contributors to road accidents.
