International Women’s Day: How It Came to Be

The International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. The colors associated with IWD are purple, symbolizing justice and dignity, green, symbolizing hope, and white, symbolizing purity. However, these are not the only colors that represent the women’s fight. How, then, can you show solidarity for the movement through your outfit choices? Here are a few pieces we think perfectly match the principles of the IWD.

RED

Red is an attention-grabbing color and you can never go wrong wearing a red piece that symbolizes strength.

PURPLE

Purple is the color that represents not only the IWD, but also your constancy and loyalty to your purpose. It also signifies self-respect and dignity. In 2018, Pantone chose it to be the Color of the Year.

WHITE

Although white represents purity, and that in and of itself is somewhat of a controversial idea, white also represents virtue, and the ‘good guy’.

GREEN

Green symbolizes hope. Pantone even chose it to be 2017’s Color of the Year.

PINK

Ultimately, pink represents femininity. To wear pink is to scream to the world that you are unapologetically feminine while also representing compassion and love.
