His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE, has initiated a campaign called "1 Billion Meals Endowment" that will establish a food endowment fund to provide sustainable food aid.
The campaign will be launched during Ramadan and seeks to gather resources from local, regional, and international sources to create effective and sustainable programs to combat hunger and to support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 2, which is to end hunger by 2030.
According to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the "1 Billion Meals Endowment" campaign is a message of support from the UAE and its citizens to people all around the world. He believes that their ethical principles require them to play a leading role in global efforts to eliminate hunger.
The "1 Billion Meals Endowment" campaign falls under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), which is the biggest foundation in the region in terms of the number of institutional initiatives that lead large-scale programs and projects worldwide.
The campaign is an extension of previous Ramadan initiatives organized under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, including "1 Billion Meals," "100 Million Meals," and "10 Million Meals" campaigns held in 2020, 2021, and 2022, respectively.
