His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been appointed as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi by an Emiri decree issued by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Khaled is the eldest son of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He earned a BSc in international relations from the American University of Sharjah and a PhD in war studies from King's College London in 2014. He married Sheikha Surour Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan in December 2008, and they have a son and two daughters.
Sheikh Khaled was named Head of National Security on February 15, 2016. He was appointed as deputy national security adviser on January 16, 2017. He also chairs the Abu Dhabi Executive Committee and the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and is a member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Sheikh Khaled created a new worldwide renewable energy and green hydrogen initiative with ADNOC and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) in 2021 while serving as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
