Key Details About the Design
Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, a member of the Executive Council and Head of The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW), revealed the exciting details during an interview on Sharjah Radio and Television’s "Direct Line" program.
According to Al Suwaidi, the Ruler himself sketched the city’s design. The layout includes a central square intersected by four major roads leading to the city. These roads are from Al Madam, Al Badayer, Mahafiz and Al Bataeh, and Sharjah Sports City. The highlight of this central square will be the impressive "Sports City Stadium."
Stadium Design and Features
The stadium, described as the "first nucleus" of the project, is designed to be an architectural icon. It will embody the image of a bird soaring over sand dunes, with its structure consisting of a platform and grandstand that resemble the local sand dunes. The stadium’s large cover will mimic outstretched bird wings, changing color from silver in the morning to a golden-red hue at night, depending on the sunlight.
This environmentally friendly design blends seamlessly with the natural landscape and reflects the qualities of an athlete, similar to a falcon’s sharp vision, speed, and strength.
