Two hundred workers from Sharjah set off on Wednesday, November 13, for an all-expense-paid Umrah pilgrimage, thanks to Sharjah Charity International. This initiative is part of the charity’s mission to support individuals from government and semi-government institutions in Sharjah by helping them fulfil their religious obligations.

The group departed in buses, bound for a 10-day spiritual journey through the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah. The charity is covering all costs for the pilgrimage, including travel, accommodation, meals, visa processing, and local transportation, to ensure the workers can focus fully on their spiritual experience.

A Five-Year Legacy of Support

Nearly 5,000 people have already benefited from Sharjah Charity’s ‘Tayseer Umrah’ initiative since its inception five years ago. The program’s popularity and impact continue to grow, with plans for expansion to include even more people in the future.

“This initiative is one of our most impactful campaigns,” said Mohammed Bin Nassar, Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing at Sharjah Charity International. “Our goal is to make this dream a reality for those who might otherwise not afford it, including students, people with disabilities, and cancer patients.”

Personal Stories of Gratitude

The pilgrims are expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity. Dipal Hassan, a 28-year-old Bangladeshi worker, shared his excitement: “Everything has been provided free of charge. I am beyond happy to be performing Umrah for the first time.”

For 55-year-old Egyptian worker Saeed Mohamed, this pilgrimage is particularly special. “The charity took care of everything, from the Ihram to our needs. I can’t describe how grateful I am to Sharjah Charity International,” he said.

Indian expat Khaja Muhiyuddin, 54, echoed similar sentiments, sharing, “I feel incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity. I will pray for the well-being of the Sharjah government, the Ruler of Sharjah, and the UAE.”

Comfort and Quality at Every Step

In partnership with top Haj and Umrah agencies, the charity has ensured high-quality accommodations near the mosques in Makkah and Madinah. Air-conditioned buses will transport the pilgrims between cities, while all meals are provided, along with a personal allowance for each participant.

The initiative works closely with authorities to select eligible individuals, with additional spots open to public applications. Cases are reviewed with a focus on the most financially deserving.

Grateful for Community Support

“We are deeply grateful to the generous philanthropists who make this program possible,” said Bin Nassar. “Their contributions enable us to make a lasting impact on the lives of these individuals.”

With continued support and growth, the charity aims to open doors for more deserving pilgrims to embark on their spiritual journeys in the years to come.
