Dubai Metro, which first launched its driverless trains on September 9, 2009, is marking its 15th anniversary with a special initiative. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that as part of the celebrations, select individuals known as 'Metro Babies'—those born on the same day as the metro—will have the chance to receive an academic scholarship.
Scholarship Opportunities for Metro Babies
The RTA is offering scholarships for UAE Nationals who meet specific criteria. Eligible students must have been born on September 9, 2009, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of over 90%.
This initiative is a way for the RTA to give back to the community and support the education of those who share a unique connection with the city's transportation system.
Legoland Celebration for Metro Babies
In addition to the scholarships, all 'Metro Babies' born between 2009 and 2023 are invited to a special celebration hosted by Legoland Dubai on September 21, 2024. This event aims to bring together those who have grown up alongside the Dubai Metro, offering them a day of fun and recognition.
