Smart electronic gates have been installed on the Dubai-Hatta road and other key desert roads by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), as announced on Monday.
The RTA shared the news via a post on social media platform X, highlighting that these gates aim to enhance traffic flow while preventing stray animals from entering the roads. This proactive move is expected to significantly reduce the risk of accidents in these areas.
Prioritizing Road Safety
This initiative is part of the RTA’s broader commitment to improving road safety across the emirate. By utilizing modern technology, the authority aims to ensure smoother journeys for drivers while maintaining safety standards.
Looking ahead, the RTA has announced plans to continue installing more electronic gates in various locations throughout 2025. These efforts underline Dubai's focus on integrating advanced solutions into its road infrastructure for safer travel experiences.

A Regional Push for Smarter Roads
Dubai’s measures align with similar safety initiatives in other parts of the UAE. For instance, Ajman introduced a smart monitoring system on October 1. This system uses AI-powered cameras across 26 locations to detect violations such as mobile phone usage while driving and seatbelt neglect.
These advancements reflect a growing regional effort to leverage technology in reducing accidents and promoting safer roads for everyone. By adopting these smart systems, both Dubai and neighboring emirates aim to create a secure and efficient environment for drivers and pedestrians alike.
