With the first-ever Golden Globe Award for India, RRR has made history. The Golden Globes 2023 Best Original Song award went to the song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli's magnum opus. In the category, MM Keeravani, composer of RRR, and Rihanna were both nominated. To win the trophy, Naatu Naatu beat Rihanna and other superstars including Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
After the film won a Golden Globe for Best Song for Naatu Naatu, fans and the cast of the Indian hit RRR were overjoyed. Composer MM Keeravani accepted the award on stage as Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, and director SS Rajamouli cheered him from their seats.
The team was congratulated by pop singer Rihanna when she passed the RRR table with her partner ASAP Rocky shortly after they won. Chris Gardner, a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter, posted a video of the same on Twitter appreciating the celebrity.
THIS! Rihanna has such class. As she and Rocky walk by (I think to the bathroom) Rihanna congratulates the RRR table for their best original song win for Naatu Naatu in her category. pic.twitter.com/8CM2seXFVd

The video has gone viral on Social Media as fans are appreciating and applauding Rihanna for her gesture. With Rihanna's "Lift Me Up" from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Taylor Swift's "Carolina" from Where the Crawdads Sing, Lady Gaga's "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick, and "Ciao Papa" from Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, RRR's song "Naatu Naatu" was up against some stiff competition.
RRR was nominated for Best Non-English Language Film in addition to Original Song for Naatu Naatu, but Argentina 1985 was the winner.
