Red Bull athlete Sebastian Álvarez has set a new world record with an epic skydive-to-surf stunt at Surf Abu Dhabi.
The Chilean extreme sports star jumped from a Bell 212 helicopter at 3,657 meters, riding a modified surfboard as he descended over Hudayriyat Island. After a thrilling freefall, Álvarez expertly landed on a 2.3-meter wave at the world’s largest wave facility.
"It's a dream come true to achieve this in Abu Dhabi," Álvarez shared. "The wave technology here is one of the most amazing human creations, and pulling off something that’s never been attempted before is incredible."
Surf Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital's newest adventure hotspot, boasts the world’s longest ride, largest barrel, and highest man-made wave, making it a year-round haven for surfers of all skill levels. The facility will also host major events, including the 2025 Championship Tour and the 2024 World Surf League Longboard Tour.
