Record-Breaking Dubai Run Led By Hamdan Bin Mohammed
Dubai witnessed an inspiring celebration of fitness and community as H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, led a record-breaking 278,000 participants in this year’s Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai. The event saw a remarkable 23% increase in participation compared to the previous year, cementing its status as the world’s largest fun run.
Speaking about the event, Sheikh Hamdan said:

A Sea of Green Takes Over Dubai
Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai transformed into a vibrant sea of green as runners of all ages and abilities participated, making this edition a truly unforgettable celebration. The event concluded the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2024, a month-long initiative encouraging residents to embrace active lifestyles.
Participants could choose between the 10 km route along Sheikh Zayed Road or a 5 km course through Downtown Dubai, both offering scenic runs past iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera. The courses were packed with entertainment, including live music, drumming performances, and appearances by beloved mascots like Modesh, Dana, and even Super Mario.
Unforgettable Moments
Adding to the spectacle, UNTOLD DJs set the mood with electrifying beats, while a dazzling display of pyrotechnic skydivers and motorised paramotors lit up the skies. A parade of Dubai Police supercars led the run, setting an exciting tone for the day.
International R&B star Jason Derulo surprised the crowd, joining the event and interacting with fans before taking on the course. Sports legends like Jessica Smith, Fadi El Khatib, and Bacary Sagna also participated, adding to the event’s star-studded appeal.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the event’s significance:

Since its launch in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan, Dubai Fitness Challenge and its flagship event, Dubai Run, have consistently supported Dubai’s vision to become the world’s most active city. The 2024 Dubai Run was organised by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Dubai Sports Council, with support from presenting partner Mai Dubai and a host of official partners.
