The UAE has announced the start of Ramadan on Saturday, Mar. 1, after sighting the moon on Friday evening, Feb. 28.

The news was shared after Muslims in the country were asked to spot the moon. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and involves Muslims fasting from dawn to dusk and offering late-evening prayers (Taraweeh). 

Ramadan Festivities in the UAE

Various venues in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will host iftar and suhoor daily during the Holy Month. 

Dubai and Sharjah have announced the locations of iftar cannons, which are fired to announce the start of iftar daily. 

The country will host a series of Ramadan festivities, including Ramadan District, Ramadan at Global VillageRamadan Street Food Festival, Ramadan Nights at Jameel Arts Center, and much more. 

To light up your Ramadan evenings, Dubai will host a series of fireworks shows after iftar to celebrate the bliss of the holy month.
