Educators working in private schools in Ras Al Khaimah can now apply for a Golden Visa, giving them self-sponsored long-term residency. This initiative is led by the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) and is available to school leaders (principals, vice-principals, and school directors) as well as qualified teachers actively employed in private institutions within the emirate.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants need to meet certain conditions. Key requirements include:

- At least three years of residency and employment in Ras Al Khaimah.

- An advanced degree (master’s or PhD), with a UAE-recognized certificate for degrees obtained outside the country.

- Documented positive impact on their school’s performance.

Educators must submit proof of employment, education qualifications, residency, and contributions to their school’s success.

How to Apply

Once eligible, educators can start their application by providing an official appointment letter, educational certificates, and relevant documentation on their role in enhancing school standards. Upon submission, RAK DOK will evaluate the applications and, if approved, send an eligibility confirmation to the applicant. They can then visit the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) to finalize the Golden Visa process.

RAK DOK clarified that only educators actively involved in teaching and school leadership roles can apply, excluding administrative positions from the 10-year visa.

Additional Benefits

The Golden Visa program covers educators of all nationalities and allows family members—spouse, parents, and children—to also gain residency benefits once the educator’s application is approved. There’s no application fee from RAK DOK for the initial eligibility review, though applicants may need to cover other associated fees with the ICP.

Specific Qualifications for School Leaders and Teachers

School Leaders: Leaders must show a notable positive impact on school performance, such as improved ratings. An endorsement from the school’s board of governors confirming this contribution is also required.

Teachers: To qualify, teachers need to provide evidence of at least three of the following:

1. Positive contributions to student performance.

2. Favorable feedback from students, parents, and school management.

3. Awards or recognition for teaching excellence at regional or national levels.

4. Impactful support for students of determination.

5. Use of innovative teaching methods, including tech integration.

6. Active engagement in professional growth activities.

Timeline

RAK DOK typically reviews applications within two weeks, making this process relatively fast for educators seeking long-term residency in the UAE.
