Rafael Nadal Announces Retirement from Tennis

The tennis star will retire after the Davis Cup in November.

Tennis star Rafael Nadal announced his retirement from professional tennis on social media on Thursday, Oct. 10.

In the message, Nadal said, "The reality is that it has been some difficult years, especially the last two. I don't think I have been able to play without limitations."

The 38-year-old tennis champion will retire from the sport after the Davis Cup final in November. Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam titles, which are part of 92 titles in his tennis career. 

Nadal has won 14 majors at the French Open as well as being a four-time champion at the US Open. He also won two times at the Australian Open.

The tennis star won at Wimbledon twice; in 2008 and 2010. He remained number one in the world tennis rankings five times.

After Nadal's retirement, Novak Djokovic will be the only one to remain active from the top four tennis male players.
