Next year, the sprint competition will take place in Qatar from October 6 to October 8. The sprint events will be held as indicated by the 2023 F1 calendar:
- Baku City Circuit, Azerbaijan, April 28–30
- Red Bull Ring, Austria, June 30–July 2
- Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, July 28–30
- Lusail International Circuit, Qatar, October 6–8,
- United States: Circuit of The Americas, October 20–October 22
- Interlagos, Brazil, from November 3 to November 5.
F1 says that the choice to hold the competition at these locations was determined after a study done to determine which tracks would be best for overtaking possibilities, close racing, and high-speed sectors. F1 further stated that doing so will guarantee fans of the race weekend's chosen Grand Prix competitive on-track action for all three of the race's days.
Stefano Domenicali, president of Formula One, continued, "We have witnessed a wonderfully positive reaction to the F1 Sprint events throughout its first two years of operation, and we can't wait to provide even more action to fans with six events next year, including our first US F1 Sprint in Austin.
The F1 Sprint website states "The introduction of the F1 Sprint has created a race weekend that includes three days of competitive racing action and brings more entertainment to fans of the sport as well as an additional value for key stakeholders including teams, broadcasters, partners, and host venues."
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, said: "We are happy to announce the six events for Sprints for the 2023 season after close coordination between the FIA and FOM and the World Motor Sport Council's consent. This great addition to the calendar is something we are anticipating."
