Qatar Honored Art Creators on The World Photography Day

On this event, officials, experts, and creators applauded Qatar's attempts and leading role in promoting the arts of photography and photographers, as well as the prestigious awards it has granted them, and shed light on the accomplishments of Qatari photographers locally, regionally, and internationally, as well as the preparedness of institutions and creators to demonstrate their potentials, cultural and artistic renaissance in Qatar.
Perhaps one of the most important efforts that reflect the development in this field, and the continuity of generations in the service of cultural and artistic development in the country, is the Qatar Image Festival “Tasweer”, which represents an extension of giving and includes a rich program of events that includes exhibitions and / awards of Sheikh Saud Al Thani / which celebrates the creativity of photographers and amateurs Photography in Qatar and the world.
Khalifa Al-Obaidli, director of the Qatar Image Festival "Tasweer," discussed the significance of the award and the festival in boosting cultural life and maximizing the significance of photographic arts, saying that the festival administration will announce the opening of submissions for the Sheikh competition within two months. Saud Al Thani Photographic 2023 is a competition established in collaboration with the Sheikh Saud Al Thani Foundation, and it features two categories: The first is the single photograph competition, which is aimed at talented people who are enthusiastic about photography and students who want to express their thoughts and worlds using a photographic camera or a phone camera and compete to provide the best shot or collection of images. It contains artistic concepts and chronicles specific events, with the expectation that the jury will select 10 winners to participate in the prize display next year.
He stated that the second category is related to photographic projects, for which a financial grant of 30 thousand riyals is allocated to the best projects submitted to the competition, and it attracts the category of experienced and professional photographers with great experience in the Middle East and West Asia to present their existing projects or photographic projects that they plan to complete, and this grant provides support Financial guidance as well as guidance by our team specialized in this field.
Al-Obaidli emphasized that the competition's goal is to explore photographic talents, build communication bridges between artists, and present their ideas and artistic experiences in various parts of the State of Qatar and its institutions, including the halls of Hamad Hospital and Doha Tower, where the competition's results will be showcased in special places for the public to view next year.
