Qatar Celebrates World Alzheimer's Day
The Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan) celebrated World Alzheimer’s Day, which falls on September 21 of each year, by organizing a number of various awareness-raising events and activities.
Since the beginning of this month, the center started an awareness campaign on social media to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease from a social aspect. The events also included holding lectures and awareness workshops in a number of entities, including those presented by a number of doctors from Hamad Medical Corporation and specialists from the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, which is affiliated with Hamad Bin Khalifa University with the aim of increasing the public's knowledge of the signs of disease and methods of dealing with the patient.
In cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation, the Center presented an awareness lecture to 40 employees of Al Rayyan Municipality and other municipalities to raise awareness of this disease.
Where the lecture entitled (Let's Talk About Alzheimer) was presented by Dr. Osama Al-Nour, Dr. Amir Ibrahim, and Dr. Mani Chandran, with the participation of Nurse Marwa. In the lecture, Alzheimer was introduced, its effects and stages, and how to deal with a person with Alzheimer.
Ehsan Center's participation in this celebration comes on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day this year under the slogan, "Know about dementia, know about Alzheimer's disease." This year's celebration focuses on raising awareness of the importance of providing support to Alzheimer's patients and their families after diagnosis of the disease.
In a related context, 23 entities in Qatar participated in the campaign of the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan) on World Alzheimer's Day, which falls on the twenty-first of September each year. These entities lit their buildings in the internationally approved color "purple" for this occasion.
This participation stems from the principle of social responsibility and partnership that brings together these bodies at Ehsan Center and enhances the role played by government and private institutions in the country in contributing to raising awareness among members of society, which contributes to an effective role in supporting the elderly and their issues and pushes to provide the required support to them.
The following entities and institutions lit their buildings in purple: Qatar National Bank, Protection and Rehabilitation Center (Aman), Al Noor Center for the Blind, Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, Public Works Authority, Qatar National Library, Ezdan Mall, Power International, Qatar Tourism, and Hilton Doha Hotel Mercure Grand Hotel, Hilton Doha and The Pearl Complex, Kempinski Suites & Residences Doha, Hotel Holiday Villa, Bentley Hotel & Suites, Intercontinental Doha Hotel, Banana Island Resort Doha, Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas, Sheraton Grand Resort Doha, Smart Curve Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotel, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (Lusail - Khalifa Olympic - Education City), Qatar Museums Authority (Qatar National Museum - Museum of Islamic Art).
