The Public Works Authority “Ashghal”, represented by the Supervising Committee of Beautification of Roads and Places in the country, has achieved the Guinness World Records title for the longest air-conditioned walking and running track in Umm Al Seneem Park, which is 1,143 meters (3,750 feet) long, as it is the fifth award obtained by Ashghal projects.

The authority published, through its account on Twitter, a video clip to announce obtaining the Guinness World Records title, in addition to highlighting the records it has achieved over the past years.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Saad Al Mohannadi, President of Ashghal, said: “We are proud of the park’s obtaining the Guinness World Records title, as the park achieves the strategic plan for humanization and beautification of cities at the highest levels of quality and in accordance with international standards, and the central parks with an air-conditioned path aim to promote a healthy lifestyle in various seasons of the year.

Umm Al Saneem Park includes 88,400 square meters of green areas, 912 trees, a bike path of 1,135 meters in length, an air-conditioned walking and running track of 1,143 meters in length, 3 exercise areas equipped with fitness equipment, two children's play areas and 40 bicycle parking spaces.

In turn, Eng. Yousef Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Manager at Ashghal, said: This event is the culmination of the efforts of the work team that was able to implement an air-conditioning system for the longest air-conditioned walking and running path in an open garden, as Umm Al Saneem Park is a distinguished example of projects that provide an exceptional entertainment destination for Qatar’s guests.

Umm Al Saneem Park is the second central air-conditioned park that Ashghal is implementing and achieving the Guinness World Records title for the longest air-conditioned track in an open garden is a new achievement to be added to its record of achievements.

it is worth mentioning that the system of conditioning the walking and running path in the park is environmentally friendly, as it depends on generating a large percentage of the electricity required to operate the air conditioners using solar panels.

Conditioning open spaces in parks is a real challenge and require years of engineering studies and experiments.

So, the Ashghal team prepared the engineering designs and performed the required experiments to ensure the success of the modifications to the system for adapting the walking and running paths in Umm Al Saneem Park.

In turn, Engineer Yasmine Al Sheikh, Project Design Manager, said: The implementation of the longest air-conditioned walking and running path in the park in a safe and environmentally friendly manner contributes in turn to encouraging sports throughout the year, and it serves as a recreational destination for the residents of Qatar in addition to tourists, especially with the upcoming launch of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
