'Pushpa 2' Star Allu Arjun Arrested After Theater Stampede
'Pushpa 2' star Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday, Dec. 13 and remanded to custody for 14 days by a local court in Telangana, after a stampede at his film's premiere in Hyderabad killed a 39-year-old woman, and left her son in critical condition.
The stampede occurred at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Dec. 4 where Allu Arhun arrived for his film's premiere, which led to people rushing inside the theatre.
Revathi was taken to the Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital but was declared dead there, while her son Shreethej continued to receive treatment, according to a press release.
Earlier three individuals, including one of the owners of Sandhya Theatre, were arrested in connection to the stampede, according to the police.
The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105, 118 (1) and other relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) after a complaint submitted by the deceased's family.
The arrested were presented before a court and sent to judicial custody. Arjun had filed a plea to quash the FIR and had requested a stay on all proceedings including arrest.
