PUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most popular mobile games, launched the UAE PUBG MOBILE Campus Design Contest in Abu Dhabi yesterday in partnership with Endless Studios, a youth centred game making studio, and G42 Cloud, the Abu Dhabi-based leading Cloud Computing provider.
The PUBG MOBILE University Campus Design Contest is open to university and high school students across the UAE, who are invited to create their own fanart and design concepts for game skins (i.e., ‘outfits’ in the game) or a selection of in-game items and submit their artwork by April 12th online. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, following which a shortlist of contestants will go through to a final stage of In-game voting, with PUBG MOBILE players voting for their favourite work. The UAE winners will be announced in May.
The UAE contest launch, which is part of a wider global initiative, took place in the Abu Dhabi Gaming HQ, with students, deans and gaming industry professionals from across the UAE gathering to hear about the contest launch. In the spirit of supporting the development of the thriving gaming industry in the UAE and bridging the gap between educators, industry and students in the gaming space, the launch brought together gaming phenomenon PUBG MOBILE with global gaming educators for youth, Endless Studios, and G42 Cloud, whose cloud computing infrastructure enables exceptional performance.
Talal M. Al Kaissi, CEO, G42 Cloud and Endless Studios Board Member, said: “The gaming industry is growing rapidly in the UAE with a strong drive locally to develop homegrown talent and games. We are delighted to bring UAE university students, gaming youth educators like Endless Studios and industry players like PUBG MOBILE together to provide a platform to showcase UAE students’ work to the gaming industry through this University Design Contest.”
John Lacey, Country Manager, Level Infinite, MENA, Tencent Games Global said: “We are thrilled to offer students in the UAE the opportunity to develop their design capabilities, showcase their work to the industry and establish a link between students and industry, and encourage capacity building for future designers and developers of the UAE in partnership with Endless Studios and G42 Cloud.”
