UAE public sector workers will have a day off on Friday, September 29, to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad's birthday.

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation sent a memo to all ministries and government agencies announcing that public sector employees will have a holiday on September 29 to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad's birthday.

”On this occasion, the authority congratulated the leadership, government and people of the United Arab Emirates, and the Arab and Islamic nations, asking God Almighty to return them with good health and wellness," the memo said.

The Prophet Muhammad's birthday is a solemn holiday, with people observing the occasion rather than celebrating it. Festivities are kept to a minimum.

The public and private sectors in the UAE typically have the same holidays.

Even though some of the longest holidays have already happened this year, people in the UAE can still enjoy some time off and long weekends, including for the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and National Day.
