President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan warmly welcomed President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus in a meeting held at the marvelous Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. The purpose of their encounter was to converse and discuss progress around strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations. Amidst the backdrop of the ongoing genocide occuring in Gaza, the esteemed leaders also exchanged thoughts on the evolving developments in the Arab world and the immediate need to establish peace and security in the region.
Coinciding with the remarkable COP28 summit, currently hosted in Dubai until December 12, President Lukashenko expressed his admiration for the exceptional organization of the event by the UAE. He also commended the commitment of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who pledged a generous $30 billion to bridge the climate financing gap and foster climate solutions. This noteworthy effort by the UAE aims to offer support for countries that are negatively impacted by the climate crisis, despite their minimal contribution to its cause. The pledged funds will be directed towards Alterra, a novel private investment vehicle that aspires to raise $250 billion globally over the next six years to help equity within the climate system.
