A pilot became the sole survivor of a plane crash after eighteen individuals were killed in the crash. The plane caught fire and crashed after it took off from Nepal's capital Kathmandu on Wednesday, Jul. 24.
The pilot was rescued from the burning wreckage and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
The plane was of Saurya Airlines and was carrying 17 company employees and two crew members. The plan was bound for Pokhara in western Nepal.
The plane crashed at 11:15 a.m. local time, a few minutes after it took off from Tribhuvan International Airport.
The pilot sustained injuries to his eyes and forehead, nonetheless, his life is out of danger.
The cause of the plane crash has not yet been confirmed by the airport authorities. The head of Tribhuvan International Airport Jagannath Niraula shared that the plane flew in the wrong direction after takeoff, however, that has not been confirmed as the cause of the crash.
Seventeen of the passengers who passed away in the crash were Nepali, while one passenger was a Yemeni national.
The airport in Kathmandu closed temporarily after the crash but reopened within a few hours.
