According to authorities, an Abu Dhabi pharmacy has been reported to the public prosecution for allegedly violating health insurance policies.

On grounds of appropriation and damage to public funds, the Department of Health Abu Dhabi filed legal action against the pharmacy that shall remain unnamed.
The Department of Health — Abu Dhabi (DoH) issued a statement saying that it was believed to have substituted alternative less expensive medications for the prescription orders given to customers in order to receive additional funds from insurance claims.
The authority said, "After various follow-ups and inspection visits, the DoH's disciplinary committee referred the pharmacy to the public prosecution to investigate such operations."

The DoH conducted nearly 1,300 inspection visits in the first half of 2023, during which 43 offenses were discovered. In 2022, the teams made approximately 4,300 inspection visits and found 290 offenses.
