'Bridgerton' Star Nicola Coughlan has been advised against campaigning for Palestinians in Gaza and told that this advocacy will cost her jobs in the television and film industry.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Coughlan shared how she uses social media to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
She said, "You do get told [in Hollywood], ‘You won’t get work,’ ‘You won’t do this.’ But I also think, deep down, if you know that you’re coming from a place of ‘I don’t want any innocent people to suffer,’ then I’m not worried about people’s reactions.”
The Bridgerton star also wears the Artists4Ceasefire pin to show her support for Palestinians wherever she goes.
Inspired by Coughlan's strong stance, her 'Bridgerton' fans have created the group Polins x Care for Gaza, which raises money for the nonprofit Care for Gaza, helping Palestinian families displaced by the war in Gaza.
Polin refers to the ship name of Coughlan's and her co-star Luke Newton's characters in 'Bridgerton', formed from their names Penelope and Colin.
The first part of the third season of 'Bridgerton' will air on Thursday, May 16.
