Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi unveiled an ambitious blueprint for its Tourism Strategy 2030, aiming to ramp up the number of visitors from nearly 24 million in 2023 to 39.3 million by 2030. To reach this goal, the city is focusing on enhancing its hospitality offerings, including a significant increase in hotel rooms. A key player in this transformation is Aldar Properties PJSC, a real estate development company owned by the Abu Dhabi government.

Aldar is investing 1.5 billion dirhams into upgrading its hotel portfolio. This includes enhancing existing hotels and introducing exciting new brands to the capital.

Waldorf Astoria Abu Dhabi

Aldar has teamed up with Hilton to revamp the Eastern Mangroves hotel under the prestigious Waldorf Astoria brand. Guests can expect stylish upgrades to rooms and suites, along with improvements to leisure and event facilities. The promenade and marina will receive enhancements, and new retail outlets will be introduced. Moreover, the residences in the area will also get a facelift.

Vignette Collection Pool View - Abu Dhabi

The Yas Plaza and Tilal Liwa in Al Dhafra are set for a transformation. Closing for renovations in April 2024, these hotels will be reimagined under the Vignette Collection brand, an innovative concept from IHG Hotels & Resorts. This promises a fresh and modern experience for future guests.

Straylight Yas Abu Dhabi

In an exciting development, Aldar is revising the master plan for Yas Plaza. The six-hotel complex will be transformed into a fully integrated resort, aptly named Straylight Yas. With access to a private beach and beachfront suites, this resort will offer a wealth of options for guests. Once complete, Straylight Yas is set to become the largest Vignette Collection resort in the world!

Nurai Island Abu Dhabi

Nurai Island will also see significant upgrades, further elevating its status as Abu Dhabi’s ultra-luxury island destination. The existing villas, restaurants, spa, gym, and beach club will all undergo renovations, while the island will expand to include more luxurious villas, a ballroom, a community hub, and a jetty. These improvements will position the resort as the largest of its kind in the region.

Nobu Abu Dhabi

And let’s not forget about the much-anticipated Nobu Hotel set to open on Saadiyat Island’s Mamsha beach. While an official opening date is yet to be announced, we do know that it’s planned for 2027.
