As part of the Falcon Interchange Improvement Project, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has built a signalized surface intersection that connects Al Khaleej Street, Al Mina Street, Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, and Al Ghubaiba Road.
This follows the recent completion of three bridges and a tunnel with a 2,500-meter length and a 28,800-vehicle-per-hour capacity.
The two bridges are linked to one another to the north by the Infinity Bridge and the Al Shindagha Tunnel, and they will eventually connect with other bridges that are currently being built to the south at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.
The Falcon Interchange Improvement Project is part of the 13 km-long Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which runs along Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street.
In addition to providing Mina Rashid with entry and exit options as well as more parking spaces beneath the newly built bridge, it will ensure efficient traffic flow and improve the intake of Al Khaleej and Al Mina Streets.
One of the biggest projects the RTA is working on is the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which is expected to cost AED 5.35 billion.
Due to its enormous scope, the project has been divided into five phases and entails the building of 15 junctions spanning a total distance of 13 km.
The Corridor provides access to Bur Dubai, Deira, and a number of new developments, including Mina Rashid, the Dubai Maritime City, the Dubai Seafront, and the Deira Islands.
By 2030, it is anticipated that travel time will be reduced from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes, saving AED 45 billion over the course of 20 years.
