A bridge between Dubai Islands and Bur Dubai will be constructed, as announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday.

The 1.42 km long bridge will have four lanes going in each direction, with a combined capacity of 16,000 cars per hour going both ways. is set to be completed by 2026.
The new bridge that spans the Creek between the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid Development Project will provide direct access to the Dubai Islands from the Bur Dubai side as well as exit points.
The project will also include surface roads that reach about 2 km to connect the current highways from both ends of Dubai Islands and Bur Dubai, as well as a dedicated track for pedestrians and cyclists that will be built along the bridge.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nakheel, formally agreed to the project's development.

The project, which is being carried out by the RTA at an estimated cost of AED 5.3 billion, is a component of the larger Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project.
A total of 15 intersections, covering a distance of 13 kilometers, are being constructed. The project has been divided into five sections because of its enormous scale.
The Corridor connects Bur Dubai and Deira to a number of construction sites, including Dubai Islands, Dubai Seafront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid.
