The futuristic vision and aspirations that the UAE successfully achieved as a pioneer in space research are represented in the new banknote's design. In honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's encounter with Nasa pioneers in 1974, the new banknote's front side features a picture of him next to a model of a spaceship.
The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi, which will be crucial to the nation's efforts to expand its energy sources and limit emissions of carbon, is depicted on the opposite side of the new banknote.
