The UAE has reduced the passport validity needed for its visa amnesty program from six months to one month, easing the process for visa violators.

Easier Path for Visa Violators

On Tuesday, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP) announced an important change to the UAE's visa amnesty program. The required passport validity has been cut from six months to just one month, making it easier for individuals with expired or invalid visas to rectify their status.

Streamlined Process

Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, the director-general of the ICP, explained that this change will help visa violators avoid the lengthy process of renewing their passports. Previously, many faced challenges due to the time it takes to get a passport renewed at their embassies in the UAE. Now, those with passports set to expire in less than six months can take advantage of the amnesty program without the added stress of renewing their documents.

Key Details of the Amnesty Program

Launched on September 1, the visa amnesty program allows individuals to either leave the country without facing an entry ban or secure a job opportunity and stay legally by obtaining a proper visa. This two-month program runs until October 31, providing a crucial chance for violators to correct their status.

Support for Visa Violators

Al Khaili encouraged anyone facing issues related to their visa status to reach out to the ICP call center for assistance. The team is ready to address questions and challenges to ensure a smooth process for all participants in the amnesty program.
