Media Center is Ready for FIFA World Cup Media Coverage
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy has officially launched the Host Country Media Center (HCMC) for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. (SC).
The HCMC, which is located in Msheireb Downtown Doha, will assist hundreds of media personnel in covering the competition, which will start on November 20 when hosts Qatar take on Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium.
A press conference room, studios, hot desks, IT support, photographer services, a media lounge, and a café are just a few of the numerous amenities offered by the HCMC. Throughout the tournament, which concludes with the final at Lusail Stadium on December 18, the facilities will be available 24 hours a day.
"We are happy to welcome media from across the globe to cover the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world," said Fatma Al Nuaimi, the SC's Executive Director for Communications & Media.
She added: "The Host Country Media Centre was created to assist journalists, broadcasters, photographers, and videographers in conducting their work in a seamless manner while covering the competition and everything that Qatar has to offer. We look forward to working closely with the media as they report on a special FIFA World Cup edition".
Every game will be broadcast live at the HCMC, which will also frequently hold news briefings and fireside discussions with SC and national spokespeople.
The press conference area can accommodate up to 25 camera positions and 140 reporters. The capacity of press briefings will be increased to about 500 by live-streaming to media members seated at hot desks. Additionally, broadcasters will be able to reserve four studios and one broadcast studio.
Media outlets can use the 300 hot desks on a first-come, first-served basis. All are wired for both power and the internet. Media will also have access to select machines, and IT service desk staff will be ready to troubleshoot as needed.
A photographer services desk is also available in HCMC and is being provided in association with Nikon and Cannon. While necessary parts will be available for purchase, maintenance services will be provided without charge.
There includes a restaurant with food from the W Hotel as well as a media area with space for 100 people.
Register for the Qatar Media Portal if you are a member of the media and would like to cover the tournament from Qatar or your home country (QMP). The ground-breaking digital platform gives journalists, content producers, and broadcasters access to a variety of resources to support their work. The QMP, accessible at media.qatar2022.qa, provides a variety of services, including studio bookings, media tours, and requests for interviews with SC and government representatives.
