British actor Bernard Hill, well-known for his roles in 'Titanic' and the 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, passed away, aged 79, on Sunday, May 5.
Hil's agent Lou Coulson confirmed the actor's passing in the early hours of Sunday to British media outlets.
Bernard Hill played Captain Edward Smith in the Oscar-winning 1997 epic romance 'Titanic'. The actor was well-known for playing the King of Rohan Theoden in two 'The Lord of the Rings' films.
The cast of 'The Lord of the Rings' paid tribute to Hill at the Comic-Con event in Liverpool. The cast members included actors Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, and Sean Astin.
Astin said, "So, we lost a member of our family this morning. Bernard Hill passed. King Théoden. And so we just want to take a moment, before we walk off this stage, to honor him...He was supposed to be here today and yesterday."
Hill was scheduled to be at the event, but he ended up cancelling.
