The 17-year-old gymnast Kaylia Neymour became the first Algerian to win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday, Aug. 4.
China's Qiu Qiyuan secured a silver medal while the US' Sunisa Lee secured the bronze medal.
Nemour earned 15.700 points with her amazing acrobatic performance, pushing world champion Qiu to second place because the latter scored 15.500.
Nemour was born in France and continues to train there, but she switched to compete for Algeria after a dispute between the French gymnastics federation and the French club Avoine Beaumont.
