The event will take place on December 19, at Gqeberha, coinciding with India's second ODI of their tour of South Africa.
The auction pool will be finalized in early December, and the ten IPL clubs have until November 15 to submit their list of retained and released players.
Each team will receive INR 100 crore (about USD 12.02 million) to assemble their team for the 2024 season, an INR 5 crore increase over the INR 95 crore purse from the previous season. The value of players released by each team, in addition to their unspent purse from the 2023 auction, determines how much each team must spend on auction day.
Despite being a mini-auction, some well-known people may win enormous sums of money, as has happened in past years of the all-day event. Every two years, the IPL holds a full-fledged auction, in which the teams were only permitted to keep three players in the most recent edition.
