As International Museum Day approaches this weekend, museums across the UAE are embracing the occasion by offering complimentary entry to visitors. In Sharjah, renowned as the cultural hub of the UAE, a plethora of museums are participating in this initiative, inviting the public to explore their rich heritage and vibrant exhibits.
On May 18, patrons can enjoy free admission to a variety of Sharjah museums, including Al Eslah School Museum, Al Mahatta Museum, Bait Al Naboodah, Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Hisn Khor Fakkan, Resistance Monument, Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Sharjah Heritage Museum, Sharjah Maritime Museum, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, and Sharjah Science Museum.
To enhance the visitor experience, these museums will also host a range of workshops and programs centered around the theme "Museums for Education and Research" from May 16 to May 23, 2024. Highlights include calligraphy and ornamentation sessions at the calligraphy museum, an Emirati dialect workshop at Bait Al Naboodah, and a stamp workshop at Sharjah Archaeology Museum.
Additionally, the renowned Louvre Abu Dhabi will open its doors for free on May 16, allowing guests to explore its exceptional collections and architectural marvels. Admission requires only a valid Emirates ID, with galleries and exhibitions open until 8:30 PM and the iconic dome accessible until midnight.
