The decision follows political tensions that have kept India from visiting Pakistan since 2008.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the move, with spokesperson Amir Mir stating, "The PCB has chosen the United Arab Emirates as the neutral venue." This decision comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cited government advice against sending its team to Pakistan.
The two cricketing giants, India and Pakistan, only face off in multi-team tournaments, such as the 50-over World Cup held in India last year. The upcoming eight-team Champions Trophy, scheduled for February and March 2025, continues this trend of neutral-ground showdowns.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently reinforced its stance on neutrality, announcing that matches between India and Pakistan in ICC-organized tournaments would take place at neutral venues. This policy extends to other upcoming events, including the women's ODI World Cup in India next year and the men's T20 World Cup in 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
