Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, arguably the most well-known Muslim athlete in the world, released a statement on the situation in Gaza. He posted a video and urged all world leaders to unite to provide medical supplies to Gaza.
Given the ongoing violence and ensuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a divisive topic that athletes in European football at least have generally refrained from commenting on, it has been a significant week in international news.
He said in a video recorded and posted on social media, "There has been too much violence and too much heartbreaking brutality."
"The people there are in terrible conditions. The scenes at the hospital last night were horrifying. The people of Gaza need food, water, and medical supplies urgently. I'm calling the world leaders to come together to prevent further slaughter of innocent souls."

According to reports, Salah has also contributed a large amount of money, which has not been publicly made known, to aid Palestinian civilians who are trapped in this terrible situation. A representative of the Egyptian Red Crescent, the area's Red Cross, verified that Salah gave money through his agent, Ramy Abbas, to be used for food and medical supplies.
