The Dubai Police General HQ rewards campaign encourages motorists to drive more safely to reduce accident rates across the emirate on August 29th for ‘A Day Without Accidents’
The police force invited motorists to log on to their official website to sign a pledge letter in which the driver promises to drive more carefully as part of the road safety initiative.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said the campaign this year would run under the slogan “Together for Safer Roads”.
He added that they regularly conduct road safety campaigns to reduce traffic accidents and most importantly to protect the lives of road users.

“We’ve managed to remarkably reduce the number of road-related fatalities per 100,000. However, it’s extremely important that we continue to sustain the safety awareness initiatives, particularly during the academic year when our pupils are transported " Brig. Al Mazroui said.
The first week of the school year usually witnesses traffic accidents, as it is a busy time and parents drive their children to schools. Drivers should pay attention to the stop signs on school buses as there is an AED1,000 fine and 10 black points for drivers who do not stop when the bus sign is on.

Drivers can log on to Dubai Police website and take a pledge in which they promise to follow traffic instructions, fasten the seat belt, leave a safe distance between vehicles, give way to official convoys and vehicles, give priority to pedestrians crossing roads, and not use phones while driving.
Motorists taking part in the campaign and keeping up their promises to drive safe and not be involved in an accident will be awarded gifts, including an appreciation certificate from Dubai Police, 50% discount on fees if the vehicle is confiscated and cancellation of some black points from their licences.
