With Sharjah's decision to cancel all fireworks and festivities for New Year's Eve, many residents have modified their plans for the evening. Some are choosing to stay at home, relishing moments with family, while others are seeking alternative activities to mark the occasion.
Desert Escapes and Quiet Gatherings
Manju Sreekumar, an Indian expat, shared her alternative plans for the night. She expressed enthusiasm about heading to the desert near the Umm Al Quwain-Ras Al Khaimah border with fellow members of an off-roader's club. The group aims to reach the location by 8 PM to witness the fireworks on Marjan Island. However, this year's desert adventure will trade music-filled drives for a serene BBQ and camping under the night sky.
Family-Centric Observations
Another expat, Anum Noor, who has lived in Sharjah for seven years, is planning to spend the evening with her family, highlighting a simple yet meaningful celebration. She intends to visit a mall and enjoy a family dinner, emphasizing the absence of any elaborate plans for this year's New Year's Eve.
