The inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi will witness a display of interfaith solidarity by the Guru Nanak Durbar Gurdwara in Dubai.
The Gurdwara management plans to serve 5,000 meals in a 'langar,' a community service offering free food regardless of religion or nationality.
The langar will be served in the presence of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be inaugurating the Middle East's first traditional Hindu stone temple. Surender Singh Kandhari, chairman of the Gurudwara committee, emphasized that serving langar is a tradition in all gurudwaras, reflecting their commitment to hospitality.
The gesture serves as a welcome to the new addition to the multi-faith community and an expression of gratitude to the UAE authorities for their inclusive approach to all religions.
Pujya Swami Brahmaviharidas highlighted that the gesture exemplifies the "sense of oneness" promoted by BAPS, strengthening interfaith understanding. He expressed confidence that the UAE's commitment to interfaith tolerance will lead to more occasions where different faiths cooperate to promote peace and goodwill.
Pujya Swami said, “Every such gesture only strengthens the fabric of interfaith understanding and acceptance. Langar meals are famous for ingredients that include kindness, humanity, and generosity of spirit, which make these meals so popular."
"There is no doubt in my mind that through the precedents set by the UAE Government in promoting interfaith tolerance and harmony, there will be many more occasions where different faiths will cooperate on ventures designed to strengthen peace and goodwill towards all,” Swami Brahmaviharidas further added.
