The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announces a welcome decrease in petrol and diesel prices for June 2024, effective from Saturday, June 1.

This marks the first reduction in fuel rates across Dubai and other emirates since January, offering relief to motorists amidst recent price hikes.
Here are the updated petrol and diesel prices for June:
- Super 98 petrol: Dhs3.14 per litre (compared to Dhs3.34 in May)
- Special 95 petrol: Dhs3.02 per litre (compared to Dhs3.22 in May)
- E-plus 91 petrol: Dhs2.95 per litre (compared to Dhs3.15 in May)
- Diesel: Dhs2.88 per litre (compared to Dhs3.07 in May)
While the year commenced with a decline in UAE petrol prices for January, subsequent months saw marginal increases at the pump. As petrol prices rose, taxi fares in Dubai also followed suit, with rates reaching Dhs2.09 per kilometre in the city. With the national petrol price now dropping, speculation arises regarding potential reductions in taxi rates.
Since 2015, the UAE has adjusted petrol prices monthly to align with global rates. July 2022 marked a historic high in petrol prices, with Super 98 reaching Dhs4.63 per litre. In 2023, petrol prices peaked in October before experiencing declines in November, December, and January.
